CVE-2023-31341

Windows crash via unchecked IOCTL buffer write

Published Aug 13, 2024 · Updated Aug 13, 2024

Out-of-bounds write in AMD μProf Tool before 3.4.494 and AMD uProf before 4.2 allows local users to crash Windows. The IOCTL handler insufficiently validates its input buffer before performing a write beyond the buffer bounds. A logged-in, low-privileged user can submit the malformed buffer locally; successful exploitation interrupts service by crashing the operating system.
