Privileged GPU disruption via malformed temperature command
Published Aug 13, 2024 · Updated Oct 31, 2024
Improper input validation in AMD Radeon PMFW allows local users with administrative privileges to disrupt GPU operation via a malformed command. The firmware accepts malformed input for the set temperature input selection command without adequately validating the requested quantity. Successful exploitation alters firmware-controlled state or impairs GPU availability; AMD has disclosed no more specific failure mode.
