CVE-2023-31290Known exploitationPublic exploitNetwork attack vector

Fund theft via 32-bit mnemonic entropy

Published Apr 27, 2023 · Updated Jan 30, 2025

Weak PRNG use in Trust Wallet Core before 3.1.1 allows attackers to derive browser-extension wallet keys and steal funds. The Wasm random_buffer function seeds std::mt19937 with one 32-bit random_device value, limiting mnemonic generation to about four billion possibilities. Attackers need only a public wallet address and offline computation; wallets created by extension versions 0.0.172 through 0.0.182 remain exposed to complete asset theft.
