Stored XSS via permitted HTML temporary uploads
Published Apr 27, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Stored XSS in Serenity Serene and StartSharp before 6.7.0 allows remote authenticated users to run scripts via temporary uploads. The temporary-upload handler accepts .html and .htm files and serves them from the application origin, so embedded JavaScript executes with the victim's session context. A low-privileged account can upload the payload, but an administrator must follow the resulting link; the script can perform application actions as that administrator.
