Device identifier disclosure via warranty lookups
Published Dec 20, 2024 · Updated Dec 24, 2024
Information exposure in Sierra Wireless AirVantage allows remote attackers to enumerate IMEI and serial-number pairs through warranty lookups. The Warranty Checker accepts either identifier for a warranty-status query and, before the update, returned the matching IMEI and serial number together. No account or user interaction is required; the consequence is bulk disclosure of device identifiers, with no reported data alteration or service interruption.
