Code execution via uninitialized Data pointer
Published Nov 27, 2023 · Updated Feb 25, 2026
Use of an uninitialized pointer in WPS Office 11.2.0.11537 allows remote attackers to execute code via a malformed Excel file. The ET parser assumes a required Data element exists inside Caption, then reads and writes through its uninitialized object pointer when Data is absent. Execution requires a user to open the crafted file; heap grooming can turn the resulting memory corruption into code execution.
