CVE-2023-31207

Automation secret disclosure via diagnostic URL logging

Published May 2, 2023 · Updated Jan 30, 2025

Sensitive-data exposure in affected Checkmk releases allows local users to read the automation secret from the Apache access log. Performance-graph support diagnostics send the automation username and secret to report.py as URL query parameters, so Apache records them in var/log/apache/access_log. A privileged user must generate the diagnostic report through the GUI or command line; subsequent local log access exposes the secret but does not alter data or service availability.
