CVE-2023-31191

RID data falsification via adjacent-channel suppression

Published Jul 11, 2023 · Updated Nov 6, 2024

Traffic injection in BlueMark Innovations DroneScout ds230 firmware 20230104-1650 through 20230329-1042 allows attackers to falsify RID data. The adjacent-channel suppression algorithm treats high-power spoofed ODID messages on selected channels as grounds to discard genuine RID detections and publishes attacker-crafted RID values in JSON MQTT messages. An unauthenticated attacker must be within radio range and transmit on carefully selected channels; downstream brokers then lose genuine drone identity data and receive false records.
