Private author data disclosure via filter oracle
Published May 8, 2023 · Updated Jan 29, 2025
Information disclosure in Ghost before 5.46.1 allows remote attackers to infer private author fields via Content API filters. The public authors, pages, and posts endpoints passed attacker-controlled filters to database queries without rejecting author password or email keys. No privileged account is required, but a Content API key and repeated prefix queries are needed to disclose email addresses or password hashes indirectly.
