Account takeover via password-format validation
Published May 8, 2023 · Updated Jan 29, 2025
Improper authentication in Tripreporter before commit bd80ba833b9023d39ca22e29874296c8729dd53b allows remote attackers to take over accounts. The AccountPostLogin handler validates only the submitted password's format instead of comparing it with the stored account password. No existing credentials or user interaction are required; any conforming password yields access as the named user, exposing that account's data to access or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
