RCS activation-mode changes via cross-sphere resource transfer
Published Jun 7, 2023 · Updated Jan 7, 2025
Incorrect resource transfer in Samsung Shannon RCS on Exynos Modem 5123 and 5300 allows remote attackers to change RCS activation mode. Samsung discloses only that Shannon RCS incorrectly transfers a resource between security spheres, allowing a crafted application to modify the activation-mode state. The published network vector requires neither privileges nor user interaction; the documented consequence is limited to RCS activation-mode integrity.
