CVE-2023-30995Network attack vector

IP whitelist bypass via crafted login request

Published Sep 8, 2023 · Updated Sep 26, 2024

Improper authorization in IBM Aspera Faspex 4.0 through 4.4.2 PL3 and 5.0 through 5.0.5 allows remote attackers to bypass IP allowlists. A specially crafted HTTP request bypasses the IP whitelist check during user login; IBM has not disclosed the responsible code path or validation error. The attacker must possess valid login credentials because IBM states that the flaw does not provide unauthorized user access, but it permits account use from a disallowed source address.
