CVE-2023-30990Network attack vector

Unauthenticated command execution via DDM error handling

Published Jul 3, 2023 · Updated Nov 25, 2024

Command injection in IBM i 7.2 through 7.5 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary CL or PASE commands as the QUSER profile. The DDM server processes a command request even after corrupted credentials produce a SECCHKRM invalid-credential error, allowing a replayed request through the failed authentication path. No credentials or user interaction are required when DDM is reachable on TCP port 446; execution is constrained to QUSER, which can alter accessible data and stop services running under that profile.
