CVE-2023-3097Public exploit

Local privileged file write via cp option injection

Published Jun 5, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

OS command injection in KylinSoft kylin-software-properties before 0.0.1-130 allows local users to write files via setMainSource. The function splits attacker-controlled text into arguments for a privileged cp command, so a leading -t option redirects a supplied file into an arbitrary directory. Access to the local system D-Bus is required; the published proof of concept writes into /etc, enabling privilege escalation through protected-file replacement.
