Arbitrary folder creation via unsanitized revision path
Published May 2, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Path manipulation in Moodle LMS 4.1 through 4.1.2 allows remote attackers to create arbitrary folders via crafted HTTP requests. The TinyMCE language and asset loaders accept the revision path segment as raw text before using it in filesystem-related processing instead of restricting it to an integer. No authentication or user interaction is required, and the documented consequence is limited to unauthorized folder creation.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
