CVE-2023-30856Network attack vector

Remote command execution via unchecked WebSocket origins

Published Apr 28, 2023 · Updated Jan 30, 2025

Cross-site WebSocket hijacking in GitSquared eDEX-UI 2.2.8 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute shell commands. The terminal WebSocket server accepts cross-origin connections without validating the Origin header and writes each received message directly to the active pseudoterminal. Exploitation requires eDEX-UI to be running while a malicious website is open, and commands run with the eDEX-UI process user's privileges.
