CVE-2023-30841

Credential disclosure via htpasswd ConfigMaps

Published Apr 26, 2023 · Updated Jan 30, 2025

Information exposure in Metal3 Bare Metal Operator before 0.3.0 allows local users to read Ironic credentials from Kubernetes ConfigMaps. The included deploy.sh kustomization places plaintext usernames and hashed passwords for ironic and ironic-inspector in ConfigMaps rather than Secrets. Exploitation requires cluster-wide read access to the management cluster or access to its etcd storage, exposing credentials but not plaintext passwords.
