CVE-2023-30799Known exploitationPublic exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated code execution via forged policy bitmask

Published Jul 19, 2023 · Updated Nov 21, 2025

Privilege escalation in MikroTik RouterOS stable before 6.49.7 and long-term through 6.48.6 allows remote authenticated users to run code. The user-policy IPC path accepts a forged 0xffffffff permission bitmask from WebFig or Winbox instead of limiting it to administrator-grantable bits. Valid administrative credentials and management-interface access are required; unrestricted IPC access reaches FoisHandler::cmdUnknown, which invokes an attacker-supplied function pointer.
