CVE-2023-30791Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Stored XSS via unvalidated avatar upload

Published Jul 15, 2023 · Updated Oct 30, 2024

Stored cross-site scripting in Plane 0.7.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through an uploaded avatar. The avatar upload accepts and stores files of any extension without server-side type validation, so an HTML file is served and interpreted as HTML and JavaScript. Any account can upload the payload, but another user must open the stored avatar; script execution can expose session cookies and enable account takeover.
