CVE-2023-3079Known exploitationPublic exploitNetwork attack vector

Renderer code execution via stale elements kind

Published Jun 5, 2023 · Updated Oct 21, 2025

Type confusion in V8 in Google Chrome before 114.0.5735.110 allows remote attackers to corrupt heap memory through crafted HTML. V8's SetKeyedProperty inline-cache path extends a JSStrictArgumentsObject backing store without changing PACKED_ELEMENTS to HOLEY_ELEMENTS, exposing the internal hole value to JavaScript and enabling out-of-bounds access. A user must load attacker-controlled HTML; successful exploitation executes code in the Chrome renderer, and Google reports exploitation in the wild.
