Unauthenticated application activation via unsanitized JNDI URL
Published May 9, 2023 · Updated Jan 28, 2025
Missing authentication in SAP NetWeaver Application Server Java 7.50 allows remote attackers to activate applications over P4. RemoteObjectFactory accepts an arbitrary forged URL without sanitization and passes it to a JNDI lookup. Access to an exposed P4 port is sufficient; activated applications can read or change existing service state and expand the attack surface.
