CPU serial-number disclosure via unprotected system property
Published Oct 4, 2023 · Updated Sep 19, 2024
Improper access control in a system property on Samsung Mobile Devices with Android 13 allows local users to read the CPU serial number. The affected system property returns this hardware identifier without enforcing the permission that Samsung added in the October maintenance release. Local access is required, and the demonstrated consequence is limited to device identification rather than data modification or service interruption.
