Improper authentication in Samsung Mobile Devices before SMR Sep-2023 Release 1 allows local users to insert arbitrary provider data. Phone and Messaging Storage accepts provider insert operations without proper authentication, but Samsung has not disclosed the affected interface or check. Local access to a device running Android 11, 12, or 13 is required, and the documented consequence is limited to unauthorized provider-data modification.
