Local code execution via missing buffer-size check
Published Jul 6, 2023 · Updated Nov 20, 2024
Out-of-bounds access in Samsung Mobile Devices before SMR Jul-2023 Release 1 allows local users to execute arbitrary code. The callgetTspsysfs function in the sysinput HAL service reads and writes beyond a buffer because it lacks a proper buffer-size check. Only selected Android 11, 12, and 13 devices are affected, and Samsung's assessment requires high local privileges to reach code execution.
