Local denial of service via unchecked concatenation
Published Jul 6, 2023 · Updated Oct 24, 2024
Stack out-of-bounds write in RILD on Samsung Mobile Devices before SMR Jul-2023 Release 1 allows attackers to crash Android. IpcRxImeiUpdateImeiNoti reads an unchecked count from a baseband IPC message and repeatedly appends converted failure descriptions with sprintf into a fixed 240-byte stack buffer. A compromised baseband runtime must send the crafted IPC message; the documented consequence is an Android radio-context service crash, not code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
