CVE-2023-30646

Code execution via unchecked baseband IPC length

Published Jul 6, 2023 · Updated Nov 20, 2024

Heap out-of-bounds write in Samsung Mobile Devices before SMR Jul-2023 Release 1 allows attackers to execute code via baseband IPC. The BroadcastSmsConfig constructor trusts an IPC length byte and copies four bytes per item into a 0x1b0-byte heap object, allowing a write up to 598 bytes past its end. Reachability requires control of the Exynos baseband runtime or equivalent access to its RIL IPC path, and successful exploitation runs code in Android's radio context.
