CVE-2023-30622

Cluster privilege escalation via overprivileged hub role

Published Apr 24, 2023 · Updated Feb 4, 2025

Privilege escalation in Clusternet before 0.15.2 allows local users to gain cluster-wide access through the cluster-hub service account. The cluster-hub deployment binds clusternet-hub to the clusternet:hub ClusterRole, whose wildcard API groups, resources, and verbs grant unrestricted Kubernetes permissions. Exploitation requires access to the worker node running cluster-hub; the service account then reads any cluster secret and modifies critical resources.
