CVE-2023-30617Network attack vector

Cluster privilege escalation via overbroad daemon RBAC

Published Jan 3, 2024 · Updated Jun 16, 2025

Privilege escalation in affected OpenKruise Kruise releases allows local users with node root access to read cluster secrets. The Helm chart's kruise-daemon ClusterRole grants get and list access to Kubernetes secrets across the cluster instead of limiting access to ImagePullJob secrets. Compromise requires root on a node running kruise-daemon; its service account can then expose tokens that authorize cluster-wide pod changes.
