Private-topic reaction disclosure via missing permission checks
Published Apr 19, 2023 · Updated Feb 5, 2025
Information disclosure in Discourse Reactions 0.2 allows remote attackers to read reaction metadata from posts in private topics. The post_reactions_users endpoint loads a post without enforcing guardian visibility, while reaction updates are published without a secure audience. A private post must contain a reaction, and its numeric ID must be known or guessed; exposure is limited to reaction activity and identities.
