CVE-2023-30606Network attack vector

Multisite denial of service via unsanitized SiteSetting dispatch

Published Apr 18, 2023 · Updated Feb 6, 2025

Denial of service in Discourse SiteSetting before stable 3.0.2 or beta 3.1.0.beta3 allows remote authenticated users to disrupt multisite clusters. The dispatch path accepts an administrator-supplied method name and invokes arbitrary SiteSetting methods such as clear_cache! or notify_changed!. Only administrator sessions on multisite deployments reach this path; single-site deployments are not affected, and impact is service interruption across the cluster.
