CVE-2023-30543Network attack vector

Incorrect transactions via stale parallel chain query

Published Apr 17, 2023 · Updated Feb 5, 2025

Race condition in Uniswap Labs web3-react affected releases allows attackers to make applications derive data from a stale chain ID. The connector activation path queries eth_chainId and accounts concurrently, so an immediate chain response can be retained while the account request waits for the user's different chain selection. Exploitation requires a connection flow that permits a chain change; derived addresses can then be wrong, causing a transaction to send funds to an unintended address.
