CVE-2023-30512Network attack vector

Cluster-admin credential disclosure via overprivileged CSI role

Published Apr 12, 2023 · Updated Feb 7, 2025

Privilege escalation in Linux Foundation CubeFS 3.2.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read all Kubernetes secrets. The cfs-csi-node DaemonSet and cfs-csi-controller Deployment share a service account whose cluster-wide role grants unrestricted get and list access to secrets. Control of a worker node exposes the DaemonSet service-account token, enabling retrieval of administrator credentials and cluster-level privilege escalation.
