Authenticated arbitrary file read via FAL path traversal
Published Dec 25, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Path traversal in TYPO3 CMS 11.5.24 allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary files through the administrator backend. The File Abstraction Layer local-driver storage accepts directory paths outside the project root because BE/lockRootPath is not enforced, allowing ../ traversal in the baseuri or storage base path. Exploitation requires an administrator-level backend account and affects confidentiality without service interruption or data modification.
