CVE-2023-30440

Peer-partition corruption or disruption via improper SR-IOV validation

Published May 23, 2023 · Updated Jan 17, 2025

Improper input validation in PowerVM Hypervisor FW860, FW950, FW1010, FW1020, and FW1030 allows local users to disrupt or corrupt peer partitions. IBM identifies the flaw in SR-IOV virtual-function support but has not disclosed the rejected input, code locus, or missing validation operation. Exploitation requires control of a partition with an assigned VF on the same physical server; the result is VF service interruption or arbitrary data corruption.
