CVE-2023-30431

Local code execution via db2set buffer overflow

Published Jul 9, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Buffer overflow in db2set in IBM Db2 10.5, 11.1, and 11.5 allows local users to execute arbitrary code through malformed input. The db2set utility fails to enforce buffer bounds while processing attacker-controlled input, allowing data to overrun the destination buffer. Execution requires local access to invoke db2set; IBM has not disclosed the affected input, function, or replication steps, so the resulting code-execution context is unspecified.
