CVE-2023-30429Network attack vector

Privilege escalation via proxy-role authorization substitution

Published Jul 12, 2023 · Updated Oct 3, 2024

Incorrect authorization in Apache Pulsar before 2.10.4 and 2.11.0 allows remote authenticated users to escalate privileges. The Function Worker authorizes proxied requests with the proxy's mutual-TLS role instead of the originating client's role. Exposure requires a client connection through an mTLS-authenticated proxy, and a privileged proxy role grants the client that role's data and administrative access.
