Process crash via unbounded recursive calls
Published Apr 24, 2023 · Updated Feb 4, 2025
Stack overflow in JerryScript commit 1a2c047 allows local users to crash the JavaScript engine by running crafted JavaScript. The vm_loop interpreter does not stop the proof-of-concept's recursive call chain before the native stack is exhausted. Execution of attacker-controlled JavaScript with user interaction is required, and the documented consequence is a process crash.
