Interpreter crash via crafted JavaScript execution
Published Apr 24, 2023 · Updated Feb 5, 2025
Denial of service in JerryScript commit 1a2c047 allows local users to crash the jerry interpreter by executing a crafted JavaScript file. The public issue demonstrates that a Promise and async-function test case makes build/bin/jerry terminate with a segmentation fault, but it does not identify the faulty code path or memory operation. Execution of attacker-controlled JavaScript is required, and the documented consequence is an interpreter crash without reported data disclosure or modification.
