Unauthenticated root command execution via Wi-Fi credentials
Published Jun 7, 2023 · Updated Jan 7, 2025
Command injection in AK3918EV300 MCU v18 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands as root via crafted Wi-Fi credentials. The station_connect.sh script passes GSSID and GPSK values into sh -c after wifi_station.sh applies an incomplete denylist that misses shell operators and permits quote breakout. Only the camera serial number is required because OpenWifi accepts unauthenticated configuration changes; the injected command runs at reboot with superuser privileges.
