Information disclosure via unterminated PDU search
Published Jun 23, 2023 · Updated Dec 5, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in libcoap 4.3.1-103-g52cfd56 allows remote attackers to read process memory through a malformed PDU. coap_send_internal appends a NUL and calls strstr during Proxy-Uri loop detection without first resizing the PDU for the terminator, causing a read past the heap buffer. The crafted PDU must reach an application's sending path; the public reproducer demonstrates the memory read under AddressSanitizer but no channel that returns the bytes.
