Unauthenticated file disclosure via decoded path traversal
Published Jul 20, 2023 · Updated Oct 24, 2024
Path traversal in Advanced Plugins ultimateimagetool 2.1.02 and earlier allows remote attackers to read arbitrary server files. The module's image.php decodes the image query parameter and uses the resulting path without reducing it to a safe basename, allowing traversal outside the intended image directory. No authentication or user interaction is required, and exposed files can include module code, logs, configuration data, and other server-resident information.
