Stored XSS via unencoded volume name
Published Apr 25, 2023 · Updated Feb 3, 2025
Stored XSS in Craft CMS before 3.7.68 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript in a user's browser via a crafted volume name. Asset::metadata() placed the translated volume name into location metadata without HTML encoding before the value was rendered. Exploitation requires a user to view asset location metadata containing the crafted name, enabling script execution in that user's browser context.
