CVE-2023-3013Public exploit

Process crash via unchecked AVC parser result

Published May 31, 2023 · Updated Jan 9, 2025

Unchecked return handling in GPAC before 2.2.2 allows local users to crash MP4Box by DASH-segmenting a crafted AVC input file. dasher_configure_pid dereferences the AVC configuration returned by gf_odf_avc_cfg_read without checking whether parsing returned NULL. Reaching the flaw requires local execution of DASH segmentation on malformed AVC data; the demonstrated consequence is process termination.
