Local process crash via invalid stackVal read
Published May 9, 2023 · Updated Jan 29, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in libming swftophp 0.4.8 allows local users to crash the converter by processing a crafted SWF file. The stackVal function in util/decompile.c reads an invalid address while decompileIF handles malformed action data, producing a segmentation fault. The user must be able to invoke swftophp with the crafted file; the demonstrated consequence is termination of that process, with no reported data disclosure or modification.
