CVE-2023-30083Public exploit

Local converter crash via out-of-bounds strlen read

Published May 9, 2023 · Updated Jan 28, 2025

Heap buffer overflow in Libming swftophp 0.4.8 allows local users to crash the converter by processing a crafted SWF file. The newVar_N function in util/decompile.c repeatedly calls strlen while assembling decompiled arguments, and a crafted action stream causes strlen to read beyond a 1,024-byte heap allocation. The user must be able to run swftophp on the file; the demonstrated consequence is process termination, with no documented confidentiality or integrity impact.
