Unauthenticated command execution via traceroute parameter
Published May 5, 2023 · Updated Jan 29, 2025
OS command injection in TOTOLINK X5000R builds 9.1.0u.6118_B20201102 and 9.1.0u.6369_B20230113 allows remote attackers to execute commands. A crafted POST to /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi reaches the setTracerouteCfg handler, which incorporates command parameter data into shell execution without neutralizing separators. No authentication or user interaction is required, and successful exploitation runs attacker-supplied commands with root privileges on the router.
