CVE-2023-29986Network attack vector

Sibling-file disclosure via canonical-prefix comparison

Published May 11, 2023 · Updated Jan 27, 2025

Path traversal in spring-boot-actuator-logview 0.2.13 allows remote attackers to read files in sibling directories through LogViewEndpoint.view. The securityCheck function compares canonical path strings with String.startsWith, so a sibling path sharing the configured directory prefix passes validation. The actuator endpoint must be network-reachable, and exploitation is limited to reading files from prefix-matching sibling directories.
