Authenticated file disclosure via path-filter bypass
Published Jan 4, 2024 · Updated Jun 3, 2025
Path traversal in S-CMS 5.0 allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary files from the web root through crafted requests. The readtxt path in admin/data.php at line 2904 inadequately filters traversal input, then concatenates the site-root variable $C_dirx with attacker-controlled folder and file parameters. Access requires an authenticated administrative session, and disclosed content can include conn.php database credentials and database backup files within the hosted site.
