CVE-2023-2993Network attack vector

Authenticated privilege escalation via web API permission failure

Published Jun 26, 2023 · Updated Nov 6, 2024

Privilege escalation in Lenovo SMM v1, SMM v2, and FPC firmware allows remote authenticated users to execute restricted commands via API calls. The web management server API fails to preserve command permissions when processing crafted requests from limited-privilege accounts. A valid low-privilege account and network access to the management interface are required, and execution is limited to an undisclosed command set.
