Unauthorized application creation via unprotected save endpoint
Published Apr 19, 2023 · Updated Feb 5, 2025
Improper access control in PowerJob 4.3.6 and earlier allows remote attackers to create application accounts through the web interface. The /appInfo/save handler accepts an unauthenticated JSON object containing an application name and password, then creates the application without a permission check. Network access to the server interface is sufficient to obtain backend access under the new application identity and alter application state, with no disclosed confidentiality or availability impact.
